FAQ
What is Friday?
Friday is just like your brain. It captures events happening around you. The people you
talk to, the places you visit, the images you capture, and the songs you listen to, etc. And
like your brain, it initiates thoughts and ideas for you, it helps you remember information,
it tries to anticipate actions.
Friday prerequisites?
It works on android devices running 2.2 or above and requires an Internet Connection and
Google Account.
How do start using Friday?
You can just sign up using Google Connect. You have absolute control on what to sync,
and save. You can change these later as well.
How do I add information to Friday?
Friday is different from social apps like Facebook or Path. It is different from Journal
or note taking apps like Evernote or Catch. Friday is like your brain, it senses your
activities. It automatically creates your journal, so once you sign up and see the homes
screen for the first time, you have jumpstarted your second brain. It works tirelessly in
the background capturing the moments. Just make sure you carry your Android phone
around with you everywhere and you have Friday installed and logged in.
What all does Friday remember?
Friday remembers your tracks (travels), calls, text messages, peoples, photos, songs and
phone states (silent, vibrate, low battery, docked etc). Further you can also link your social
accounts and Friday will learn from your social posts.
What are the third party services that will be integrated with Friday?
Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Google Services integration. More services will be added
periodically.
How do search with Friday?
Friday provides you answers rather than search results. You can just ask Friday a
question (with voice, or typing), like “All calls from Johny Boxer” or even “Photos taken at
low battery”. Friday justs shows you the exact answers.
What about my battery life?
We designed Friday to run all the time so that you don’t miss a moment. So it was
extremely important for us to make sure it was super-efficient on your battery. So, if you
just go to you Android System’s Battery screen, you would be surprised to see Friday not
in the List of Apps consuming the most battery. It is not a bug, we consciously designed We designed Friday to run all the time so that you don’t miss a moment. So it was

Does Friday run in the background, use GPS all the time?
Friday does run in the background all the time. But it is extremely cautious and efficient in
using any system resources, right from your processing time to GPS or any other sensor.
The previous answer explains how efficient we are on the battery.
Is there a private mode (Incognito mode) for Friday?
YES! Even though Friday is like a second brain, unlike our real brain, you can make Friday
forget stuff or not record things. You can delete any event from the Friday timeline, you
can also turn off sensors and stop Friday from remembering anything. Don’t forget to
turn them back on, when you’re done :)
How much data does Friday consume?
Depends on how often you click photos. Right now photos are the only source that
create big amount of data transfers on Friday. Every other sensor put together should
account for a less a few megabytes (at most). Also on the First run, Friday may consume
a quite a good amount of data. As it has sync all the photos, and other logs at once. It is
recommended that you are connected to an unmetered source (Wi-Fi) during the first run sync.
Can I export my data, who owns the data?
You own every bit of information you create with Friday. And it is absolutely in your
control. There is a bit of work required for us to make the data exportable (in a useful
format), we are working on it. It will be available soon!
What are Activities?
Say you're watching the Amazing Spiderman movie, just tap on the watching icon, and
type in the show name. You can also choose who you're with (from address book), also
choose the place (IMAX?) and save it as a private note, you can also beam this directly
to your Facebook, twitter, or foursquare. Updating your social status has never been so
easy! Check it out yourself, try saying what you're watching, thinking, eating, playing etc.
What are Applets?
The bigger vision of Friday is not just about creating a standalone app, that captures
your whole life and answers your questions. But rather going beyond that and creating
useful context aware apps, that could actually turn your Android smart. These apps, that
uses friday as the quintessential data fabric and builds interesting use cases are called
Applets.
